It’s a fact that it’s easier to keep clients around, than it is to get new ones.
Once a client walks through your doors, you have to do everything you can to make sure they will want to come back again next time they need you.
The bad thing is, not everyone will let you know if they were somehow dissatisfied with your services.
People are also very forgetful, and might go somewhere else anyway!
Keeping loyal customers is especially important if you have a lot of local competition. Big chain beauty salons tend to get a lot of customers, simply because their rates are often lower.
You need to remind your clients that they can count on you.
There are really simple and inexpensive ways to do this, such as making phone calls or sending cute post cards to clients who haven’t stopped in in a while, but this is time consuming.
You collect email addresses, right?
No, you don’t have to write an email and send it personally to every client who hasn’t come around in a while.
But you can set it up to make it seem that way!
All you really need is an autoresponder to send out emails to your customers, and a few pre-written emails lined up to send out on a regular basis.
Sending emails is one of the best ways to keep salon clientele excited about your brand.
It’s also just one of the simple digital marketing techniques you can use to keep salon clientele coming back again and again.
Here’s another good idea:
When you’ve noticed that some clients haven’t come back in a while, you can segment them into a group of “unengaged” clients in your autoresponder.
You can send a special “re-engagement” set of emails to this group.
How a Re-Engagement Email Campaign Works:
- You’ll have a set of 3 emails that you would send out over the course of 3 days.
- Each email should lead into the next one, and feel as it’s the continuation of a series.
- You’re offering them something special if they come back (possibly a discount).
- You’re reminding them that your salon genuinely cares about all of its clients.
Digital Marketer goes into detail with some great examples of “win-back” email campaigns…
“Setting up a Reengagement and Win Back Series is the lowest of low hanging fruit. It just makes sense to put an autoresponder series in place that reenergizes disengaged subscribers and brings them back into an Engagement and Ascension Series to buy.”

Not only is a great email campaign effective, but it’s easy to put into place, and inexpensive to set up!
How to Collect Emails
People don’t just give up their email addresses all willy nilly.
When they’re paying and ready to leave, offer to send them discounts and promotions through email.
If they’re interested, they’ll gladly give you their email address.
This is essentially your “lead magnet”.
You can also collect email addresses on your salon’s official website, if you have one. (It you don’t what are you doing?)
(You can even get a great homepage template for FREE!)
All you would need to do is put an opt-in form on your website, and let your visitors know that you’ll send them discounts this way.
We only touched on the tip of the great email marketing iceberg!
