Though everyone has an opinion of what successful salespeople are made of, there are a few qualities that are observed across industries as key components of rock star salespeople.
1. Actual people skills.
Salespeople has a tendency to come off aggressive.
More often than not, that’s exactly what loses them the sale.
Successful salespeople are listeners and talkers.
They have the ability to have respectful, patient, and calm conversation.
They find and pick-up on social hints before they become a problem.
For that reason, they’re able to accurately assess the needs of the customer they’re speaking to.
2. The ability to handle rejection.

A smart salesperson knows that it’s better to be looking for the next lead than to focus on the sour taste in their mouth.
Successful salespeople aren’t easily discouraged.
Instead of dwelling on a lost sale, they’ll simply look for the next opportunity.
3. A large degree of self-discipline.
Follow-up is about self-discipline. Better yet, strategic follow-ups close tons of sales.
Smart salespeople don’t have to be reminded to follow-up with possible and current customers.
They take the initiative on their own.
4. Industry Knowledge
Notice we didn’t say product knowledge. Product knowledge can be taught.
Industry knowledge is more of a feeling process.
5. Charisma
Charisma comes in a lot of shapes and forms. Don’t mistake confidence for charisma.
Charismatic people have a way of making themselves irresistible to everyone around them.
You can teach someone how good a product is, but you can’t teach customers how to like your salespeople.
Successful salespeople are not quitters. They’re innovators.
It doesn’t matter if you have the most perfect product in the world.
Without successful salespeople team behind the product, you won’t see any results.
