Does your company have its own blog?
Coming up with blog content ideas for small businesses can be a challenge, and that’s one reason why they either aren’t started at all, or they’re only posted on once a year.
Not very engaging. A non-active company blog is a waste of space and a lost opportunity.
Running a blog on your company website is one of the best ways to establish yourself as an authority, AKA gain your audience’s trust.
It’s part of what we call, the “Tri-Force of Traffic” (the other two parts being social media and email marketing!)

The Curated Content Post
Save great information that you’d like to share with your readers, and compile them in a post.
Create a new folder on your computer, and/or get an Evernote account to save everything online, and on the Evernote app.
The curated content post type can be broken down into different topics:
Links to top stories around your industry. Write your take on them in a couple sentences, if you like.
Create a list of ideas. Google ideas and list the links of to each idea with a short description.
Top 10 Lists. List the top 10 ___ in your industry.
Create a “shopping guide”. Put together a collection of your best-sellers and give advice on certain products. Make this more about the information than trying to make a hard sell.
Questions and Answers
Encourage your audience to ask questions.
Place an “ask box” on your website (an email form) and answer questions in a blog post.
To protect their privacy, don’t display their name or email address. Think “Dear Abbey”.
Alternatively, you can take a poll with a free service like Survey Monkey and post the results.
Quote Posts
Post your favorite quotes with a few words of your own underneath, just to talk about why you love it.
Add your own notes to give the quote post more personal meaning.
Whenever you share something created by someone else on the internet, it gives it even more credibility and substance if you add your own commentary to it.
Be sure to cite the author and link to the source if you can.
This goes for excerpts from books and other publications.
Behind the Scenes
This kind of post creates a personable, human relationship with your readers. At the same time, it can also show them how good you are at what you do.
Introduce your team. Give human faces to your business. Have them each fill out a short “team member profile” with questions like “what do you do in your spare time” or “what’s your favorite line from a movie?”.
Show how you do something. Do you have a certain process or create a physical item? Show us how you do what you do.
Give us a tour. Show us around your studio, your office, etc.
Customer Reviews
Gather reviews on your services or products and post them.
This type of post usually leads to more sales, as long as the reviews are good!
Video Break-Down
Kill two birds with one stone: take a video and post it on YouTube, and use the information in the video to create a blog post.
This works best for telling a story, or showing a tutorial.
Just take screenshots of key points in the video for an image, with a description of each image below it.
