10 Creative Event Marketing Ideas for Social Media

April 19, 2016 by Admin

Make your followers pay more attention to your event on social media!

Brainstorming creative event marketing ideas is essential to bringing attention to your event.

Lucky for you, we did the brainstorming (and the research) for you!

The key is making your social media campaigns not seem like an advertisement, but like a conversation and a piece of entertainment all on its own.

Here are 10 super effective and creative event marketing ideas you can use on social media.

Challenge Followers to Do Something Daring

Remember the Ice Bucket Challenge of 2014?

It was a massive success, and it raised awareness and tons of funds for research for LDS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

What made it so popular?

Other than the fact it was for a good cause, and people love to feel like they’re helping out in some way, it was a “daring challenge”.

It called for people to challenge their friends to do it, and everyone loves a good challenge!

Publish an In-Depth Helpful Tips and Tricks Blog Post

Are there things people need to know about your event?

Be sure to incorporate fun and lighthearted tips and advice, and not just boring stuff, like where they’ll need to park, etc.

Not only do you have a nice meaty blog post (great for SEO)…

But you can break it up into the appropriate formats on channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube (be sure to shoot a video!).

Now you have a big piece of content that you can splinter and repurpose!

One Word – GIFS

No matter how you prefer to pronounce the word, GIFS are trending.

It gives way more value than a still image, but doesn’t demand the committed attention span to watch a video.

Create GIFS that revolve around your event and post them.

Employ Emojis

Twitter posts with emojis are way more eye-catching than posts without emojis.

Use them in Twitter posts, but don’t overdo it.

You should also use one or two emojis consistently when you do use them, to make your posts instantly recognizable. Choose one relevant to your event.

Think of it as your signature emoji.

Jump on Memes

What memes are hot at the moment?

Look up popular memes by going to Know Your Meme’s Popular Page, and pick one to use.

Have Your Followers Rate Your Videos

Everyone loves to express their opinions.

Create a series of videos are your event and tell your followers to rate them.

Use A Cat

Cats are universally loved (for the most part).

Create a video ad of a cat doing something funny or cool, and somehow tie it into your event brand.

Cats = Instantly viral.

Use a Puppy

Same concept as cats.

Color Coordinate

Create an image-driven campaign, with a color code.

Involve your followers by having them add to the color code with a post of an image with a hashtag, such as #gottheblues #seeingred. You get the idea.

Encourage Selfies and Be Specific

The perfect example of a universal craze is selfies.

Incorporate selfies into your social media campaign by using the concept of selfies, encouraging your followers to take selfies.

Try to make the selfie call-to-action as specific as possible, and as relevant to your event brand as possible.

Hashtag it!

Now, use these ideas to come up with ideas that work for your event brand.
Think about what’s important to your attendees and followers, and go from there!
