Find Your Top Competitors Online
What is it that you’re offering? Write down three short, 2-word phrases that would describe your services.
Keep in mind how your clients might type them into a search engine if they were searching for it.
Now, go to SEMrush and type in the first short phrase you wrote down.
Scroll down to “Organic Search Results”, and write down the list of domains (ADomain.com) and the names of the websites.
These are your main competitors online.
Write down the top ten. Repeat this process for all the 2-word phrases that describe what you offer.
The next step is to go to Alexa and type in the domain of your main competitor.
Scroll down and you’ll see these demographic stats:
- The countries they’re visiting from.
- Which websites they’re coming from to get there.
- Which websites are linking to it.
- If they are primarily male or female.
- And a lot more if you get a paid account.
Write down all these stats.
You’ve just learn quite a bit about what your ideal customer needs, as well as what where they hang out online, where they’ve been, and what’s important to them.
You can’t move on until you know all these things about your audience.
